Sant Fruitós de Bages, about 65 kms north of Barcelona, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea, is a typical village in central Catalonia. The village has some 5000 inhabitants, and is 20 kms from the mountain of Montserrat, the spiritual heart of the Catalan nation. There is a lively cultural life in the village, with many “festes”, notably the Festa de l’Arròs (or rice festival) in February when paella is served to the whole village as well as many visitors. For more information see the web pages of the Sant Fruitós municipality or the Sant Fruitós parish.
